am a product of Albemarle County Schools, having attended Stony Point, Burley, and Albemarle High School. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA/MT degree in 1998 and joined the inaugural staff here at Monticello High school. Since then I have been an active member of the school community. I have been a Curriculum Framework advisor, offering curriculum and assessment support to my peers. I have served on the Executive board of the PTSO as both Treasurer and Secretary. I have assisted with and performed in several of the school's stage musicals. In 2005 I was the Virginia recipient of the Presidential Award for Math and Science Teachers.

It is my belief that with students, parents, and schools working together, ALL children can learn and succeed.  In our rapidly changing world, understanding science and being able to apply that knowledge is essential.  Not only are employers in need of people with scientific skills and knowledge, but our children will be asked to deal with medical, environmental, technological, and personal ethics that will require them to use that knowledge.  Cloning, pollution, over-population, genetically altered foods, and medical advances are just a few of the challenges our young people will face as voters and members of society
